The Journey
The journey is well-trodden and similar for all. Each, however, is different as you pass at your own pace and time.
Whether days, months, or years, we are with you every step of the way. We guide rather than lead, comfort rather than grieve, and are vigilant to your needs.
The steps shown to the right outline the path, choices, and timing.
We are always with you, ready to assist and adjust as we walk together.
The Beginning
First contact is a nice time. Whether by phone, email, or gathering, meeting new folks and discovering what we have in common is a pleasure. For the Columbarium, it is also a time to learn how we can help. We are always listening at [email protected] and 703-538-5200 x106. If we don’t pick up, please leave a message on how to contact you best.
The Right Fit?
The Columbarium is open to all regardless of faith, orientation, race, ethnicity…everyone is welcome. There are many reasons for selecting Walker Chapel but if you have concerns, this is the time to talk through them. Our approach is full disclosure, and we welcome this foundational discussion.
Which Path?
There are three teams at your call. The licensing team works with you to select and license companion and family niches. The support team arranges the funeral service according to your wishes. The operations team maintains the beauty and sanctity of the cemetery. The teams work in tandem to ensure that your wishes are met.
Licensing
The step starts with exploring the columbarium and selecting the space you would like to license. The website is then used to apply for a Right of Inurnment (ROI) License. The staff prepares an invoice and license, and when paid and signed, the niche is ready for the next phase with the support team.
Support
Support may be called upon many times over the years. They work with you to inscribe the granite face plate with the names, dates, and perhaps a favorite saying. They work with you and your selected clergy to design the service or family gathering for the inurnment. They provide the setup of canopy, cushions, and alter for the service. At closure, they ensure a dignified and secure closure of the niche. This path is followed for each inurnment over the years, including anniversary services in remembrance. We are always listening at [email protected] or 703-538-5200 x106.
Operations
We strive to maintain the beauty and peace of the cemetery for all who rest there in our eternal care and for their friends, loved ones, and families. We encourage participation and love to see you join in the activities, whether tree care, gardening, cleaning and leveling stones, or weeding. If you see something that needs care, please do bring it to our attention. We are always listening at [email protected] or 703-538-5200 x106.
Gifts
The cemetery is only possible through your gifts and bequeaths over the years. Funding from licensing and services helps, but the cost of maintaining the cemetery is huge. Your gifts make the difference, whether to operations or a designated purpose, whether a donation, bequeath, or Qualified Charitable Donation (QCD), a tax-free donation; you write off your taxes. We are always listening at [email protected] or 703-538-5200 x106 to help you.
